Our longest ride yet

Our ward camp out this year was at Grey Back Gulch up by Idaho City which is about an hour outside of Boise. We thought it would be fun to take our bikes since we didn't have the kids. It was a fun ride with great scenery. We did have to stop once on the way up and once on the way back because of my back and Nathan's hands going to sleep. We are usually used to only riding in town for 20 minutes so an hour on our  seats was a little uncomfortable. It was a little hot going up at 4pm but coming home around 8pm was perfect. We will definitely do it again sometime!

Oregon Coast 2012

Ella and Ethan have been on Oregon since the end of May so it was time to head over and visit. After staying in Lebanon a couple days and hanging out with Nathan's parents  we drove over to Newport and up the coast a bit to Beverly Beach. We usually go camping for a couple days but just didn't have time to plan it this year with our house being for sale. So we got to stay in a hotel. Ella had never stayed in one so she was so excited. Ethan and Ella were just amazed and thought it was so cool. BTW, it was the Roadway Inn so not super nice but it had 3 queen beds and a kitchen and 2 TV's so they were happy. When we got to Newport on Monday it was blue skies and sunny. If you have ever been to the coast you know that you take advantage of it because you never know what the next day will look like, which in our case the next day was foggy and cold so we got really lucky!

The water of course was super cold but for some reason kids don't mind, I went up to my knees and decided that was far enough. Brrrrr!

After dinner at Izzy's we went over to a different beach and climbed on the rocks. The rocks the kids were on were usually under water when high tide comes in so we got to see lots of anemone. After climbing on the rocks I got to inspect all the kids cuts and scrapes that they got from the rocks.

This was the Newport bridge the next day, cold and foggy. We always make time to go to the Bay Front and look around, buy Taffy and pick out a souvenir. The sea lions were not on their usual dock so that was kinda disappointing. They are always there, ever year I have been going there for the last ~ 20 years!

After lunch at the Chowder Bowl (Nathan and Emma needed to get some seafood since we were on the coast) we headed down to Agate Beach. Again, cold and foggy so we didn't play for very long.

Wednesday we decided to head to Eugene for a picnic in the park and get some donuts at Voodoo Doughnuts since the line in Portland was soooo super long.

Ahhhh Voodoo Doughnuts, it was on Man vs Food on the Food Network so we wanted to stop by and see all the fun donuts!

Ella got the Portland Cream - Raised yeast doughnut filled with Bavarian cream with chocolate on the top and two eyeballs!

Ethan got the Grape Ape - Raised yeast doughnut with vanilla frosting, grape dust and lavender sprinkles!

Emma got the Bacon Maple Bar - Raised yeast doughnut with maple frosting and bacon on top!

Nathan got the No Name - Raised yeast doughnut with chocolate frosting, rice krispies and peanut butter!

And i got the Dirt doughnut - Raised yeast doughnut with vanilla frosting and Oreos!

So the time came when it was time to go home. I wanted to take the kids home so badly, the house is too quite without them. So we said our goodbye to the kids and left for home. We stopped by Ikea in Portland for a couple hours. If only I had a moving truck and some money and I would have been set. This was such a fun store. We got out with only spending $22.00, not bad. So . . . not much will be happening that will be blog worthy until we move and who knows when that will be so until then  . .!
